Qualifications and experience...
I am a certified play and creative arts therapist and hold a Bachelor of Education degree. I have over 20 years experience working with children. First as a child minder and then as a qualified primary school teacher (specialised in Early Years), then as a therapist, in combination with teaching, for the past five years and nowadays as a therapist.
I have an up-to-date enhanced DBS and am listed on the PTUK Register (Play Therapy United Kingdom, www.playtherapy.org.uk, www.playtherapyregister.org.uk) as a certified play therapist, which means I am bound to work in line with PTUK’s ethical framework.
My therapeutic work is regularly reviewed by a certified therapist, as it is an ethical requirement of the profession that all therapists are in regular supervision with a person more qualified/ experienced than they are themselves.
I am also a Parent Child Attachment Play practitioner which focuses on improving the attachment quality between parents/carers - child relationship using attachment mechanisms and child-oriented play ( http://www.bigtoeslittletoes.org/parent-child-attachment-play).
I have completed DDP Level One and Two training and will be making time in the coming year to work on the practical part of becoming a DDP practitioner.
